Key words: folklore discourse, phraseological units, mythological units, allusions,’chen yu’, translation tactics and operations.

The article deals with the problem of rendering different types of phraseological units in folklore discourse translation from the Chinese, English and Ukrainian languages. Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of translating mythological units, allusions and Chinese utterances ’chen yu’. The translation tactics and operations employed to render the semantics and pragmatics of the source discourse by means of typologically distant languages have also been analyzed.

The article deals with the concept of political discourse. The problem of translating Chinese political discourse into Ukrainian and English is regarded. Examples of the speech idiomatic elements in political discourse of the Chinese language, are given. The basic lexical and semantic differences in the original text and in the translated text are demonstrated. Translation equivalent, grammatical substitution, translation commentary and other translation operations were examined.
