SUMMARY

The article is devoted to the analysis of the influence of the cognitive evolution of human consciousness on consumer goods advertising texts appeals. This article explores the levels of development of human consciousness and their reflection in modern multimodal consumer goods texts. The aim of the article is to explore advertising discourse as a cognitive activity in English-language advertising discourse, as well as to outline the main cognitive techniques and linguistic means in the formation of English-language advertising messages. The main focus is on how cognitive evolution affects advertising strategies. The article analyses seven key stages: functional communication, emotional involvement, rational persuasion, social relations, creativity, axiological and ideological influences. Each stage is illustrated by real-life advertising campaigns that demonstrate how brands align their messages with the minds of consumers. The research shows that effective advertising uses cognitive and emotional triggers to increase persuasion, brand loyalty and consumer engagement. The main objectives are to review the work of Ukrainian and foreign researchers on the issue, to identify and describe the levels of cognitive evolution and linguistic means of English-language advertising texts, and to trace the reflection of these levels in interaction with the audience and the reproduction of cultural concepts through advertising communication. This article is largely based on O. Kolesnyk's table of evolutionary typology of human consciousness development. The article shows how advertisers use the language code and other elements of multimodal texts to create persuasive campaigns that have cultural resonance and correspond to different levels of human consciousness. The relevance of the study is to understand how advertising expands our understanding of communication processes, as well as how modern multimodal advertising texts contribute to effective and ethical advertising communication in the context of global transformations and changes in the ways of interacting with the audience through linguistic and cognitive strategies.

Key words: advertising discourse, multimodal advertising text, cognitive evolution, language code, visual metaphor.

SUMMARY

The article is devoted to the study of the impact of artificial intelligence tools on English language learning in Ukrainian universities. In the context of the modern educational process, AI is becoming an important tool that changes traditional approaches to teaching, particularly in the field of foreign language learning. The paper analyzes the use of such tools as language models, automatic text checking systems (Grammarly, ProWritingAid), online translators (DeepL, Google Translate), and language learning platforms (Duolingo, Babbel). The article focuses on the opportunities provided by AI for developing student motivation, increasing their autonomy in learning, and developing language skills, which are important aspects in the context of university education. AI has been shown to have a positive impact on creating personalized learning environments that allow each student to work at their own pace and receive real-time feedback. AI systems can adapt to the needs of students, providing individualized recommendations to improve language skills, stimulate interest in language learning, and reduce the level of stress associated with traditional teaching methods. The article highlights numerous risks and problems that arise in the process of using AI in education. The issue of decreased independence and critical thinking of students is discussed, as they may rely on technology instead of developing their language skills. Particular attention is paid to ethical issues, in particular, the problems of privacy and security of personal data collected when using AI systems. The conclusions emphasize that for the effective use of AI in education, it is necessary to develop new pedagogical strategies that would consider both the benefits and potential risks of this technology. The importance of a critical attitude to the use of AI, adherence to the principles of academic integrity and the development of students' digital literacy to maximize the effect of the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process is emphasized.

SUMMARY

The article highlights the semantic and stylistic features of modern oral advertising discourse based on authentic texts of television and radio advertising. The relevance of the research is associated with the insufficient study of advertising discourse as one of the types of institutional speech communication and the importance of understanding the lexical and syntactic organization of sound advertising. The presented research aims to identify the semantic and syntactic features of English-language advertising discourse, which is characterized by social rules and “ritualized” frameworks of functioning. It has been proved that the structural organization of the advertising text is focused on optimizing the speech impact of advertising on the consumer. Particular attention is paid to thematic and keyword elements that construct the advertising image and communicate the core message of the text. It has been determined that keywords in advertising discourse are means of objectification of concepts – multi-dimensional formations that have value. As a result of the study, it has been revealed that the frequent concepts in modern English-language advertising discourse are individuality, pleasure, comfort, benefit, common sense, and success. It has been found that such means of expressiveness as allusion, metaphor, comparison, parallelism, various types of repetition, onomatopoeia, concentration of imperative verb forms, and connotative adjectives are widely represented in the analyzed advertising texts. Attributive word combinations and syntactic structures involving enumeration also play a crucial role in shaping the syntagmatic pattern of advertising discourse. The study proves that using various linguistic and stylistic means in advertising discourse creates expressiveness, which acts as its main stylistic feature. Poetic advertising, which is widely represented in English-language television and radio discourse, puts forward its requirements both to the material and the subject of advertising. The research findings allow us to identify the main linguistic trends, which are a direct reflection of the maximally directed pragmatics of the advertising text.

Key words: advertising discourse, English-language television and radio advertising, keywords, semantic and syntactic features, poetic advertising, linguistic and stylistic devices.

SUMMARY

The objective of this paper is to outline phraseological units in Chinese, English and the Slavonic languages apt to be employed as equivalents proper in the aspect of translation. The results of the study were obtained according to the procedure comprising the following stages. 1. The detection of phrasemes with close or identical cultural semantics. 2. The determination of the unity/similarity of the prototypical situation behind the multi-lingual phrasemes compared. 3. The comparison of the lexical composition of phrasemes for the coincidence of the semantics of the vocabularies forming them in all the languages under analysis during the literal interpretation of the phrasemes. 4. The determination of the similarity/identity of the syntactic construction of phrasemes in the languages compared. 5. The modeling of common building patterns for phraseological units with a certain cultural and ideological load relevant for the cultures represented by Chinese, English and the Slavonic languages.

Key words:literary translation, phraseme, structure, lexical semantics, prototypical situation, concept, discourse, native picture of the world.

SUMMARY

In the era of global globalization, the lexicon of different languages is constantly being replenished. The Ukrainian language is also being influenced. Currently, it is enriched mainly by borrowings from the English dictionary, but units of German origin in literary and especially dialectal use occupy a significant place among lexemes of foreign origin. In view of this issue, the functioning of German borrowings in Ukrainian colloquial speech is relevant and timely. The proposed article is written in the direction set by the research of the authors who were interested in the problems of German-Ukrainian interlingual contacts in Transcarpathia. The presence of German borrowings in the Ukrainian dialects of Transcarpathia is primarily due to the settlement of the region by German colonists (the first wave of German colonization lasted in the 12th–13th centuries, and the second – during the 18th to the middle of the 19th century). In view of this, the purpose of the article is to search for and conduct a preliminary linguistic review of Germanisms borrowed into the dialect vocabulary of Transcarpathian dialects in the process of German-Ukrainian interlingual interaction in Transcarpathia. The objectives of the study are: 1) to investigate examples of lexical infiltration of everyday vocabulary from the German (Austrian) language into Ukrainian dialects of the specified areal; 2) to outline the main features of their phonetic adaptation in Ukrainian dialect speech of the specified areal. The object of the study is German- Ukrainian linguistic contacts, and the subject is their manifestations at the lexical level, represented by the sum of borrowings of different times in the areal of Transcarpathian dialects.

Key words: German-Ukrainian interlanguage contacts, dialect, areal, lexical borrowings, Transcarpathia.

SUMMARY

The article examines the features of the formation and functioning of abbreviations in international maritime communication, which are an integral part of modern shipping. Since maritime conventions regulate key aspects of activities in the maritime sector, the issue of effective communication is of paramount importance. The use of abbreviations ensures the standardization and conciseness of terminology, simplifying international communication among professionals. The study classifies abbreviations based on various criteria, including structure, origin, field of application, and graphical presentation. Specifically, it covers initialisms composed of the first letters of each word, compound abbreviations formed by combining parts of words, and mixed abbreviations that combine letters and word parts. The research reveals that this classification helps systematize abbreviations according to their purpose and application area, facilitating understanding and enhancing terminology accuracy in an international environment. Semantic analysis shows that maritime abbreviations have a clear structure, where each component carries a specific semantic meaning. Additionally, some abbreviations have synonymous, antonymous, and hypernym-hyponymic relations, enabling the structuring of terminological relationships and the creation of interconnections between concepts. It is noted that a standardized semantic structure of abbreviations is essential for the unambiguous understanding of terms in the field of maritime safety. A comparative analysis of abbreviations in various conventions, such as SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, and COLREG, reveals the specificity of each. For instance, SOLAS covers a wide range of terms related to technical equipment, MARPOL focuses on environmental terms, STCW includes qualification abbreviations, and COLREG has specific navigational terminology. These differences reflect the functional characteristics of each convention. The study demonstrates that the system of maritime abbreviations is closely linked to advanced technologies and environmental and safety requirements, indicating its further evolution towards digitalization and standardization on a global scale.

Key words: abbreviation, maritime terminology, international maritime conventions, standardization, semantic structure, classification of abbreviations.

SUMMARY

The article is devoted to the study of competences in the system of training guide-interpreters for intercultural communication. The current development of international cooperation poses the problem of training personnel in the field of tourism, in particular, guide-interpreters. A tour guide-interpreter meets the requirements of a professionally trained person who is able to perform professional tasks and withstand the risks of professional activity. The article proves the growing demand for guide-interpreters in intercultural communication and the need to modernize the system of their training. From the professional point of view, guide-interpreters play a role of the bridge between people, cultures, opinions, and as intercultural communication experts, mediators. The article is based on the theoretical review and analysis of domestic and foreign literature, as well as on pedagogical observation and generalization of experience of training guide-interpreters in the formation of operational competence. The linguistic and didactic principles of forming the competences of guide-interpreters, as well as the development of cognitive, control and evaluation and communication skills, which are important components of operational competence, are indicated. The defined topics of classes within the educational and professional programme, which is carried out in the educational process of translators training at the «Odessa Polytechnic», cover aspects of critical thinking, social perception, self-assessment, decisionmaking, abstracting and continuous information broadcasting. The training programme for philologists is aimed at teaching students effective communication strategies and the ability to adapt to various professional situations. The results of the study show that the training of guide-interpreters with the aim of forming operational competence is effective in the implementation of the proposed model and methodology.
