SUMMARY

The article examines the pragmatic features of communicative strategies of English inscriptions on clothing, a significant element of social communication. The study is based on the analysis of 300 text prints selected by continuous sampling from online clothing stores in 2025. The aim is to identify the types of strategies used in microtexts and establish their functional load. The descriptive method, continuous sampling method, pragmatic and discourse analysis, and a quantitative approach were used to establish the relationship between verbal and non-verbal aspects of communication. The theoretical justification is based on the concept of self-presentation, as well as the interpretation of fashion texts as cultural signs. Six main strategies are identified: self-presentation, persuasion, argumentation, ritualism, informational and conflict (within which the strategies of disagreement, discrediting and trolling are considered). Special attention is paid to their pragmatic function and methods of influencing the recipient. The results of the study demonstrate that the most common communicative strategies are self-presentation, persuasion and argumentation, which indicates the desire of clothing wearers to convey their individuality and shape social discourse. Conflict and ritual strategies are less pronounced, which confirms the tendency to integrate cultural traditions and social norms. The study reveals the socio-cultural significance of text prints, a multi-level pragmatic phenomenon that affects communicative processes and the social identification of the wearer. Also, it forms new opportunities for studying the interaction of text and the space of public communication.

Key words: inscription on clothing, communicative strategy, pragmatics.

SUMMARY

The abstracted scientific research is devoted to a comparative analysis of the semantics of coloratives in Swiss linguistic culture of the first half of the 20th century. The relevance of the study is determined by the lacunae of special works on the proposed issues. The illustrative base is topical original everyday stories digitized within the framework of the Gutenberg project. An experimental card index of 76 language units has been compiled. Two types of colors and their shades are conditionally distinguished: “universal” and “special.” “Universal” colors and their shades are found in both analyzed works, “special” ones in one or the other work. The list of “universal” colors is blue, red, black, “universal” shades of colors are light, blond, pale, dark. A matrix of colorants and their classification according to pragmatic criteria is proposed. It is established that Lisa Wenger's “special” colors are identical to yellow, “special” shades of colors are sunny, golden, bloody, dark red. Ernst Zahn prefers white, reddish, reddish, terracotta, blushing, green, brown, velvety brown, chestnut, tan, multi-colored, gray, steel, purple colors and shades. The semantics of coloratives is polysemic, varying from neutral through positive, negative, combined to indefinite, informing about a person's life experience, their values, appearance, emotional sphere, behavior, etc. according to the formulas “here and now”, “there and then”, “ur own – alien”, “European – non-European”. The linguistic features of coloratives are determined, parallelism and asymmetry of the phenomenon are delimited, and the idea of the semantic possibilities of coloratives in human speech activity in general and creative personality in particular is confirmed.

Key words: color, shade of color, colorative, semantics, narrative, semantics of colorative.

SUMMARY

The article substantiates the relevance of the problem of the study devoted to the coverage of the issues of phraseology and standardization of speech, in particular the description of structural, semantic and functional characteristics of phraseological units used in the Englishlanguage technical communication. The main types of phraseological constructions, including clichés, metaphorical units and established phrases, as well as methods of their rendering in technical discourse, are characterized. The object of the research is defined as phraseological units in the aspect of their functioning in English scientific and technical texts, while the subject is termed as strategies, tactics and operations of rendering the English phraseological units under investigation into Ukrainian. The scientific novelty lies in a comprehensive study of phraseological units regarding their functional load, frequency of use and translation difficulties. The study emphasizes the importance of the correct use of established expressions to achieve accuracy and effectiveness of professional communication. Technical texts are characterized by a high level of standardization, which leads to the widespread use of phraseological units such as "verbal pattern". The use of such constructions facilitates the translation, but requires the translator to pay attention to the context, stylistic norms and functional equivalence. The main task of a translator of technical literature is to maintain terminological accuracy and a formal-neutral style.

Key words: phraseological units, technical text, terminology, translation, standardization, language norm, translation approaches, professional communication.

SUMMARY

In modern linguistics, machine translation (MT) occupies an important and increasingly prominent place, as the development of computer technology and artificial intelligence has significantly changed approaches to processing linguistic information. Due to modern MT systems, translating texts between languages has become more accurate, stylistically balanced, and contextually adequate, which was previously unattainable for traditional rules and dictionary methods. The study aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of modern machine translation from a philological point of view, in particular in the aspects of preserving meaning, cultural context, stylistic accuracy, and to determine the role of the translator in the technological era of linguistic communication. Machine translation is the process of automatically converting texts or speech fragments from one language to another using computer programs or systems that use natural language processing algorithms. The study highlights philological challenges in machine translation: ensuring the accuracy and semantic adequacy of translation, the problem of context and ambiguity, as well as stylistics, genre features, and emotional coloring. Cultural aspects of MT remain one of the most difficult challenges for modern language technologies, because the transmission of realities, idioms, and national-cultural elements requires not only linguistic accuracy but also deep cultural understanding. Typical mistakes associated with incorrect translation of culturally specific terms and expressions in MT are lexical ambiguity, incorrect transmission of grammatical structures, in particular syntactic relations between words; loss or addition of information, stylistic flatness of translations. However, MT also has positive aspects – the speed of processing requests, the availability of a wide range of languages, and cost-effectiveness. Thanks to the use of MT tools, translators can generate the text faster and transform it. Philological expertise should become a key element in ensuring the quality of translation. The prospect of further research is to study new tools for post-editing machine translation.

SUMMARY

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the role of the Latin language in the system of professional medical education across continental Europe and in English-speaking countries. Based on a comparative approach, the study explores the historical origins of Latin as the academic language of medicine, its normative and legal foundations in university statutes and European legislative acts, as well as current educational strategies that ensure its preservation and adaptation to new educational realities. Particular attention is paid to the continuing significance of Latin in shaping the terminological, cognitive, and cultural competencies of future medical professionals and specialized translators, despite its displacement from direct clinical communication. The article compares approaches to teaching Latin in the universities of Germany, Poland, Italy, and France – where Latin remains a part of core curricula – with those of English-speaking countries (such as the United Kingdom and the United States), where its role is reduced to a terminological component. For the first time in Ukrainian academic discourse, the international experience of certifying Latin instructors for medical institutions is synthesized, especially within the context of digital and distance education. The study describes innovative teaching methods (modular structuring, gamification, case-based learning) that combine traditional philological foundations with the practical needs of modern medical terminology. It is argued that Latin serves as a vital tool for interdisciplinary and intercultural professional development, and that its preservation as a subject of instruction contributes to the harmonization of educational standards within the European Higher Education Area.

SUMMARY

The article is devoted to the analysis of the influence of the cognitive evolution of human consciousness on consumer goods advertising texts appeals. This article explores the levels of development of human consciousness and their reflection in modern multimodal consumer goods texts. The aim of the article is to explore advertising discourse as a cognitive activity in English-language advertising discourse, as well as to outline the main cognitive techniques and linguistic means in the formation of English-language advertising messages. The main focus is on how cognitive evolution affects advertising strategies. The article analyses seven key stages: functional communication, emotional involvement, rational persuasion, social relations, creativity, axiological and ideological influences. Each stage is illustrated by real-life advertising campaigns that demonstrate how brands align their messages with the minds of consumers. The research shows that effective advertising uses cognitive and emotional triggers to increase persuasion, brand loyalty and consumer engagement. The main objectives are to review the work of Ukrainian and foreign researchers on the issue, to identify and describe the levels of cognitive evolution and linguistic means of English-language advertising texts, and to trace the reflection of these levels in interaction with the audience and the reproduction of cultural concepts through advertising communication. This article is largely based on O. Kolesnyk's table of evolutionary typology of human consciousness development. The article shows how advertisers use the language code and other elements of multimodal texts to create persuasive campaigns that have cultural resonance and correspond to different levels of human consciousness. The relevance of the study is to understand how advertising expands our understanding of communication processes, as well as how modern multimodal advertising texts contribute to effective and ethical advertising communication in the context of global transformations and changes in the ways of interacting with the audience through linguistic and cognitive strategies.

SUMMARY

The article is devoted to the study of the impact of artificial intelligence tools on English language learning in Ukrainian universities. In the context of the modern educational process, AI is becoming an important tool that changes traditional approaches to teaching, particularly in the field of foreign language learning. The paper analyzes the use of such tools as language models, automatic text checking systems (Grammarly, ProWritingAid), online translators (DeepL, Google Translate), and language learning platforms (Duolingo, Babbel). The article focuses on the opportunities provided by AI for developing student motivation, increasing their autonomy in learning, and developing language skills, which are important aspects in the context of university education. AI has been shown to have a positive impact on creating personalized learning environments that allow each student to work at their own pace and receive real-time feedback. AI systems can adapt to the needs of students, providing individualized recommendations to improve language skills, stimulate interest in language learning, and reduce the level of stress associated with traditional teaching methods. The article highlights numerous risks and problems that arise in the process of using AI in education. The issue of decreased independence and critical thinking of students is discussed, as they may rely on technology instead of developing their language skills. Particular attention is paid to ethical issues, in particular, the problems of privacy and security of personal data collected when using AI systems. The conclusions emphasize that for the effective use of AI in education, it is necessary to develop new pedagogical strategies that would consider both the benefits and potential risks of this technology. The importance of a critical attitude to the use of AI, adherence to the principles of academic integrity and the development of students' digital literacy to maximize the effect of the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process is emphasized.

SUMMARY

The article highlights the semantic and stylistic features of modern oral advertising discourse based on authentic texts of television and radio advertising. The relevance of the research is associated with the insufficient study of advertising discourse as one of the types of institutional speech communication and the importance of understanding the lexical and syntactic organization of sound advertising. The presented research aims to identify the semantic and syntactic features of English-language advertising discourse, which is characterized by social rules and “ritualized” frameworks of functioning. It has been proved that the structural organization of the advertising text is focused on optimizing the speech impact of advertising on the consumer. Particular attention is paid to thematic and keyword elements that construct the advertising image and communicate the core message of the text. It has been determined that keywords in advertising discourse are means of objectification of concepts – multi-dimensional formations that have value. As a result of the study, it has been revealed that the frequent concepts in modern English-language advertising discourse are individuality, pleasure, comfort, benefit, common sense, and success. It has been found that such means of expressiveness as allusion, metaphor, comparison, parallelism, various types of repetition, onomatopoeia, concentration of imperative verb forms, and connotative adjectives are widely represented in the analyzed advertising texts. Attributive word combinations and syntactic structures involving enumeration also play a crucial role in shaping the syntagmatic pattern of advertising discourse. The study proves that using various linguistic and stylistic means in advertising discourse creates expressiveness, which acts as its main stylistic feature. Poetic advertising, which is widely represented in English-language television and radio discourse, puts forward its requirements both to the material and the subject of advertising. The research findings allow us to identify the main linguistic trends, which are a direct reflection of the maximally directed pragmatics of the advertising text.

Key words: advertising discourse, English-language television and radio advertising, keywords, semantic and syntactic features, poetic advertising, linguistic and stylistic devices.
