Key words: discourse, paradigm, phenomenon, immanent features, typological peculiarities, institutional discourse.

The presented article is aimed at elaborating the problem of translating discourse in the contemporary linguistic paradigm. The main objective of the paper consists in investigating discourse as the speech and mental phenomenon studied in accordance with the communicative and translational aspects. The results of the carried-out research have proved that there exist typological peculiarities for each separate type of institutional discourse. The practical value of the research lies in the fact that the outlined regularities permit to justify the truthfulness of the thesis of the existential nature of discourse.

The article focuses on the problems of translation in the field of hermeneutics, understood as a methodology in the activity of an interpreter, the doctrine of the interpretation of texts, as a component of the transmission of information in a communicative aspect. The relevance of the study is caused by the special attention of modern linguistics to the under-researched issues of hermeneutics related to the problems of transmission of foreign language text semantics in translation.

The article investigates the role of communicative-functional approach in the translation of scientific and technical literature, when the translation itself is seen as a tool to accomplish purposeful activity of communicators, representatives of different interlingual groups. In practical terms, the difficulties of translating scientific and technical texts are due to the peculiarities of scientific style, insufficient understanding of the terminology of a particular field of knowledge, which complicates the choice of adequate translation solutions. In this context, an important role is played by the translation strategy, where the communicative-functional approach dominates. The translation is implicitly included in the communication structure between the author and the recipient. The relevance of the article is determined by the necessity of studying the problems of scientific and technical literature translation, taking into account the current realities of interlanguage information exchange.

The article is devoted to Ye. F. Shyrokorad’s research into the history of verb forms ending in -ся (-sya) in the Russian literary language. The scientist’s contribution to the issue of reflexive forms of Russian verbs is revealed. Having studied the considerable empirical material (M. V. Lomonosov’s and his contemporaries’ works) and concepts of a number of scientists drew Ye. F. Shyrokorad arrived at the conclusion that postfix -ся (-sya) performs in Russian both form-building and word-building functions and that the category of verb forms ending in -ся (-sya) in the Russian literary language of the mid XVIII ct. can be defined as rather formed.

The demonolexis in Yu. Andrukhovych’s long short story “Recreatsii” (“Recreations”) has been analyzed in the article. In the course of the research there have been outlined the following lexical-semantic groups of demonomens: toponymic and onomastic names, modified lexemes, names of the rituals, genuine Ukrainian demonomens, obscene words and expressions, demonomens of Biblical origin, names from the world mythology and general demonolexis. The special lexical-semantic group has been formed by non-personificated demonomens, which serve to convey the peculiarities of the contemporary Ukrainian writers’ mentality, their habits through speech. Such nomens help to reveal the protagonist’s soul, show the positive and negative sides of his personal ego, demonstrate the duality of the human perception of the world, indicate the causes of phobias, emotions, sensations.

The article is devoted to the analyses of Chinese scientific literature lexis and grammar and their reproduction by means of the English and Ukrainian languages. As the result of the research the most frequent translation operations to achieve of an adequacy are discovered. They are search of equivalent, concretization, loan translation, omission, grammatical replacement, sentence fragmentation, etc.

This article is devoted to the problem dealing with the reproduction of communicative semantics while translating English, Chinese economic and political texts into Ukrainian. The content and structure of simultaneous translation were analysed. A contrastive analysis of the linguistic features of the English, Chinese and Ukrainian communicative semantics was made. Some tactics enabling the reproduction of the texts under research into the Ukrainian language within simultaneous translation were specified.

The article is devoted to the study of Chinese fairy tales genre peculiarities and fairy tales translation variants in Ukrainian and English. The cognitive and linguistic features of fairy tales in Chinese compared to fairy tales in Ukrainian and English are presented in the article; the translation operations, tactics and strategies are indicated.

The article describes the perceived characteristics of persuasion in the prosecutor’s speech in Ukrainian and English. In terms of persuasion modality prosodic differentiation there exist some typological features common in the two languages under consideration. In the course of the research it was found that the variability of the prosodic components (tempo, pause, melody, loudness, sentence stress) in the modal-semantic field of persuasion is unmistakably perceived at the perceptual level and adequately interpreted by the listeners.

The article has identified the intonation design of different statement types in the Chinese and English languages. Comparative analysis has revealed the presence of both similar and distinctive characteristics in the intonation design of different sentences types in the Chinese and English languages. Prosodic means of contacting languages are considered not only from the point of view of semantic-distinctive tones of a syllable, but also from the point of view of their communicative orientation.
