Key words: Chinese poetry ’shi’, realia, translation operations


The article deals with the problem of rendering the Chinese poetry ’shi’ in English and Ukrainian translation. Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of translating realia. The translation operations employed to render the semantics and pragmatics of the Chinese belles-lettres literature by means of typologically distant languages have also been analyzed.
