SUMMARY
The article examines the specifics and main strategies of translating legal terminology in international legal texts based on the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing role of international legal communication and the need to ensure accurate and adequate translation of legal documents in the context of Ukraine’s European integration. The paper considers the peculiarities of the functioning of legal terminology in the official business style and analyzes the difficulties that arise in the process of its translation, which are caused by differences in language systems and legal traditions, as well as by the specific features of legal realities in different countries. Based on the analysis of fragments of the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement, the most common translation strategies and transformations are identified, including lexical calquing, descriptive translation, concretization, generalization, transliteration, as well as grammatical transformations such as addition, omission, and transposition. Particular attention is paid to the role of context and the functional purpose of terms. The results of the study show that the use of translation transformations is an important tool for ensuring the accuracy and adequacy of rendering legal terminology in international legal documents.
