SUMMARY
The article studies the processes of terminology formation in the English-language computer terminology system in the semantic aspect. A semantic analysis of the features of the formation and functioning of English-language computer terms in the context of the rapid development of information technologies was carried out. The use of the descriptive method made it possible to analyze the processes of integration into language circulation and identify the phenomenon of semantic shifts in the meanings of commonly used English-language computer terms. The main methods of terminology formation are allocated, in particular: semantic borrowings, terminologization of common language vocabulary, word composition according to the model "noun + noun". The specifics of various types of terminology, in particular multicomponent terms, abbreviations and acronyms, are described, as well as metaphorization, metonymization and lexical-semantic changes (concretization and generalization) as ways of terminology are studied. It has been revealed that in English-language computer terminology, the semantic mechanism of terminology is the leading one. Semantics ensures dynamism, adaptability of this terminology and its intelligibility for users. A conclusion is made about the prospects for further study of the Englishlanguage computer terminology system in diachrony and synchrony.
Keywords: English-language computer terminology, semantic borrowing, broadening of meaning (generalization), narrowing of meaning (concretization), specialization of meaning, adaptation of terms, semantic transparency.
