THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS ON LEARNING ENGLISH IN UKRAINE

SUMMARY

The article is devoted to the study of the impact of artificial intelligence tools on English language learning in Ukrainian universities. In the context of the modern educational process, AI is becoming an important tool that changes traditional approaches to teaching, particularly in the field of foreign language learning. The paper analyzes the use of such tools as language models, automatic text checking systems (Grammarly, ProWritingAid), online translators (DeepL, Google Translate), and language learning platforms (Duolingo, Babbel). The article focuses on the opportunities provided by AI for developing student motivation, increasing their autonomy in learning, and developing language skills, which are important aspects in the context of university education. AI has been shown to have a positive impact on creating personalized learning environments that allow each student to work at their own pace and receive real-time feedback. AI systems can adapt to the needs of students, providing individualized recommendations to improve language skills, stimulate interest in language learning, and reduce the level of stress associated with traditional teaching methods. The article highlights numerous risks and problems that arise in the process of using AI in education. The issue of decreased independence and critical thinking of students is discussed, as they may rely on technology instead of developing their language skills. Particular attention is paid to ethical issues, in particular, the problems of privacy and security of personal data collected when using AI systems. The conclusions emphasize that for the effective use of AI in education, it is necessary to develop new pedagogical strategies that would consider both the benefits and potential risks of this technology. The importance of a critical attitude to the use of AI, adherence to the principles of academic integrity and the development of students' digital literacy to maximize the effect of the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process is emphasized.
