SUMMARY
The article is devoted to the study of competences in the system of training guide-interpreters for intercultural communication. The current development of international cooperation poses the problem of training personnel in the field of tourism, in particular, guide-interpreters. A tour guide-interpreter meets the requirements of a professionally trained person who is able to perform professional tasks and withstand the risks of professional activity. The article proves the growing demand for guide-interpreters in intercultural communication and the need to modernize the system of their training. From the professional point of view, guide-interpreters play a role of the bridge between people, cultures, opinions, and as intercultural communication experts, mediators. The article is based on the theoretical review and analysis of domestic and foreign literature, as well as on pedagogical observation and generalization of experience of training guide-interpreters in the formation of operational competence. The linguistic and didactic principles of forming the competences of guide-interpreters, as well as the development of cognitive, control and evaluation and communication skills, which are important components of operational competence, are indicated. The defined topics of classes within the educational and professional programme, which is carried out in the educational process of translators training at the «Odessa Polytechnic», cover aspects of critical thinking, social perception, self-assessment, decisionmaking, abstracting and continuous information broadcasting. The training programme for philologists is aimed at teaching students effective communication strategies and the ability to adapt to various professional situations. The results of the study show that the training of guide-interpreters with the aim of forming operational competence is effective in the implementation of the proposed model and methodology.
