SUMMARY
The purpose of the study is to identify and describe the lexical and grammatical transformations during the translation of Ding Ling’s story «Sophie’s Diary» from Chinese into Ukrainian. To achieve the goal, the following research methods were used: the descriptive method applied to the analysis of the theoretical foundations of translation transformations, various methods of translation transformations (in the process of translating passages of artistic style text), methods of linguistic observation (detection of changes in the structures of different levels of the original texts and its translation respondent) and research on the compatibility of language units, as well as typological (comparison of language units of the original and translation) and statistical (to analyze the prevalence of the use of certain classes and types of translation transformations) methods. The translation of the text of the artistic style was analyzed, which made it possible to identify and investigate the ways and methods of reproducing linguistic phenomena of the Chinese language in Ukrainian. As a result, it was found that most grammatical and lexical transformations are based on differences in language structures. When translating, it is necessary to take into account the differences in the grammatical and lexical systems of the two languages but try to achieve adequacy while preserving the form of the original text.
