The article is devoted to the specificity of translating scientific and technical discourse from English into Ukrainian in terms of communicative-functional and linguistic approaches. The translator’s goal is to produce a target text that would convey the same information as conveyed by the ST; the amount of the communicatively relevant information in the TT must be the same as in the ST. The results of the paper discover that the implementation of the strategy of communicatively equivalent translation determines the use of certain tactics that come down to a set of translation operations.
